Radiation pollution is caused due to an increase in the normal radiation levels caused by human activities. Studies suggest that 20% of the radiation we are exposed to can be attributed to human activities like mining, handling and processing of radioactive materials, storage of radioactive materials and the use of radioactive reactions to generate electricity. We are also exposed to huge amounts of radiation from cell phones, cell phone towers, microwave ovens, computers and TVs. The huge amount of e-waste dumped into the environment is also responsible for radiation pollution. Efforts are being made on how to properly process and recycle these e-wastes.
