A number of new technologies are being developed for capturing the huge amounts of carbon that is emitted from various sources. Carbon Sequestration is a new technology that can reduce CO2 emissions from coal and gas-fired power plants. It includes capture of CO2, transport of the captured and compressed CO2, underground injection and geologic sequestration of the CO2 into deep underground rock formations. It helps to reduce greenhouse emissions and enables low-carbon electricity generation from power plants.
